Orange Armenia, 100% subsidiary of France Telecom, launched telecommunication services in Armenia on November 5, 2009.
Since the start of its activities in Armenia Orange has made around 250MLN Euro investments in Armenia (including the contribution for the license) and now the company provides a full range of voice and data services in 600 cities and villages of Armenia, to more than 95% of the population.
Orange is a large family in Armenia with more than 800 employees directly or indirectly working to deliver Orange in Armenia. 49% of the employees are women and 51% are men.
Orange is an innovative and friendly brand in Armenia and within the short period of operation has leaded a range of innovations in the country, such as HD voice, which made Armenia the second country in the world equipped with this technology, internet at up to 42.2Mbps download speed in the four largest cities of the country and up to 26.1 in the rest of the network etc, which aim at making the world innovations accessible to the largest part of the Armenian population.
Orange was the first operator in Armenia having organized public demo of 4G technologies, making possible for everyone to see and touch the LTE. In Armenia Orange has also stimulated the market of smartphones, being the first to officially introduce iPhone, Android-based HTC, and by making them accessible to a large part of consumers through special offers. Orange transformed the market of smartphones, making smartphones from just an expensive gadget into a necessary tool. Thanks to direct cooperation with world leading brands, today Orange offers the largest portfolio of phones and smartphones in the country, at a considerably low price and even for free, with one or two year commitment.
Orange is also the first and still the only operator in Armenia having implemented a mobile station operating exclusively with solar energy as well as an eco-rating system for the handsets. These are the most iconic part of a wider green strategy committed to achieving reduction of CO2 emissions and energy consumption by the Group.
Orange became the initiator of changes that touch customers in their everyday activities: free WiFi internet in public transport, busstops and Universities, two cinema tickets for the price of one, mobile and personal WiFi and etc.
Thanks to its numerous projects and sponsorship programs the company stimulates and rewardes young Armenian talents: Innovation Prize, OPEN GAME contest of electronic games developed in Armenia, ArmNet all-Armenian web contest, Orange Book Prize, "Hayak" National Film Awards and etc.
Orange confirms its wish to be useful through its technologies and know-how for vulnerable social groups and especially for people having communication disabilities. The company created Orange Armenia Foundation in 2011 which activities cover mainly healthcare and education. Thanks to the support to the regional project «Sight to Armenian Eyes» thousands of people today receive free ophtalmological assistance, through “Let’s keep children home” SMS charity project many Armenian children today have the opportunity to return home, whose families due to financial difficulties cannot keep their children home and deliver them under the care of state institutions.
