Today Orange announced the name of the Orange Innovation contest 2011. David Vardanyan, one of the 4-year students of Yerevan State University, Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics has been selected as author of the best innovative idea. David had presented a work on electronic voting systems. As a prize, David will get the possibility to go to France, for a 6-months paid internship in one of Orange research and development laboratories and work on innovative projects.
Bruno Duthoit, Orange Armenia CEO, said: « We all admired David’s curiosity that was reflected in his self-confidence of an self-taught student who does not want to limit himself with obligatory academic knowledge. I am sure that this is a turning point in his professional life. For any student, even for the best ones, the most difficult moment in the carreer is the passage from educational system to the world of work. David will have his first professional experience in one of the best research and develloppment networks of the world. I want to congratulate him once again and wish him to never stop learning and searching for innovative solutions in his work»
Appreciating very high the motivation and readiness of another student participating in the contest, Gevorg Poghosyan, Orange Armenia has decided to award him as well, by inviting him to an internship in Orange Armenia. Gevorg is also a YSU student, studies at the Faculty of Radiophysics, master degree, and had presented a project on group short messages. Orange Armenia does not exclude the possibility of implementing this idea in its network in the future.
The contest has been organized for the students of Yerevan State University or State Engineering University of Armenia (Polytechnic), between March 4 and April 20, the period when students could present their innovative ideas. The Jury was composed of 11 members out of which 7 Armenian and foreign specialsits of Orange Armenia, 2 Orange Labs and Technocenter representatives and 2 representatives of YSU and SEUA, has evaluated the submitted ideas by the following criteria: innovative, interesting, useful and user-friendly.
